14K solid yellow gold men's ring set with a 22k 1/10 oz American Eagle coin, made by Gold Time Jewelry

How Much Is a 1/10 oz Gold Eagle Coin Worth in a Ring or Pendant?

A 1/10 oz American Gold Eagle is worth the gold inside it, one tenth of a troy ounce, plus a modest premium. Set it in a bezel pendant or a ring and you are paying for three things: the coin, the gold in the mounting, and the craftsmanship that brings them together. Here is how each part is priced, so you can picture your own number before you ever pick up the phone.

What the coin itself is worth

A 1/10 oz American Gold Eagle is a 22 karat coin. That means 91.67% gold, alloyed with a little silver and copper so it handles beautifully. The coin weighs 3.393 grams and holds 3.110 grams of pure gold, exactly one tenth of a troy ounce. It measures 16.5mm across, a touch smaller than a dime.

You will see a $5 face value stamped on it. That figure is a legal formality from when the coin was authorized. The real value has always come from the gold.

The math is refreshingly simple:

(gold spot price per troy ounce ÷ 31.1035) × 3.110 = the gold value in your 1/10 oz Eagle

Here is that worked through using a gold price of $4,373 an ounce, which is roughly where gold sat in mid September 2026. Divide by 31.1035 and you get about $140.60 a gram. Multiply by 3.110 grams and the gold in the coin comes to around $437. Gold moves daily, so run the same math against today's price for your own figure.

Small coins also carry a slightly higher premium than large ones, simply because they cost more to mint and handle per ounce.

What the mounting adds

This is the part that surprises people, in a good way. A bezel is a solid gold frame. It wraps the coin, holds it securely, and takes everyday wear in its stride. Three things shape what it costs.

Gold weight. More gold means more value in the piece, and it scales with size. A pendant bezel uses a fraction of what a men's ring shank does.

Karat. We build in silver, 10K and 14K. Most coin pieces get 14K, because its richer color sits beautifully next to a 22k coin and it wears wonderfully.

Craftsmanship. Each bezel is fitted to one specific coin by hand. Stones are set individually. A screw top takes extra time at the bench, since the threads must open and close smoothly for years to come.

A ring is where the number climbs most. A men's coin ring carries a substantial shank, and at today's gold prices that mounting often holds several times the gold of the coin it frames. You are buying a serious piece of gold, and it shows.

A note on timing

Gold is traded every day, so the price shifts. That means any quote we give you reflects that day's gold, and we will always tell you what we are pricing against.

It is worth keeping in mind as you shop around. A solid gold coin piece priced identically month after month is usually carrying a generous cushion to cover whatever gold does. We would rather show you the math and let you decide when to buy.

Does setting the coin change its value?

Not when it is done the gentle way. A well-built bezel holds the coin by its rim, with no heat, solder or drilling anywhere near it, and a screw top bezel lets you lift the coin right back out whenever you like. We wrote that up in full in Can You Set a Gold Eagle Coin in a Ring Without Damaging It?, since it is the question we hear most.
